      From Scott Atkinson:

"On its own, this is a striking, shimmering desert dunescape. But add the presence of people and the spell will almost always vanish. Not here! The sun bends and bounces around the hard edges of shadows, blurring and feathering them until they become simply another part of the mirage-like landscape--like they’re floating through. Things are solid and yet not quite solid, real and not real--like it sometimes feels to me after many days spent in remote desert places. Think about seeing this scene while riding atop a camel, then perfectly placing those shadows in the glowing, sunny sand!"

"I hoped to capture the calmness and beauty of the Sahara Desert as my wife and I recently rode camels into the Moroccan desert. I noticed as the sun began to set that we were approaching a high ridge, and I realized that our shadows would project onto the desert floor with those of the dunes. As my camel lumbered on, I held onto the saddle, steadied the camera as best I could, and snapped the picture."
