      From Crista Dix:

"This photograph had my attention from the start. Its Technicolor base, organic lines and textural geology make for an impactful image. Edge to edge this image has something for me to look at, look over and be wowed by. With the electrical towers for scale, we realize just how grand the landscape is, and how small we are. It is in this type of image we see how man attempts to claim the land, but in the end nature always finds its way."

"The amazing graphic configurations and colorations of the Baylands Salt Flats as viewed from the air, beckoned to be photographed. I have made many flights in a two seater Cessna over the Baylands. Prior to the lift off, the passenger window is always unhinged and is manually opened at about an altitude of 1,000 feet. Part of my body and camera gets positioned outside of the plane. It is challenging to steady myself and camera as a consequence of air currents. I then directed the pilot to circle over the areas of visual interest. My 35mm Nikon with a 105 mm lens was set at 1/500 of a second. Having worked many years as a graphic designer and photographer, my compositional decisions were quick and intuitive."
