      Juror's Comment

      From Deanne Fitzmaurice:
"Moody, ethereal photograph that is fresh and different. The image of the face jumps out in an otherwise monotone cityscape. Nicely framed with a woman passing by."

    Artist Statement

"I don’t know what to make of this bleak scene. An arrogant man berates a small woman, questioning her very existence. Yet, rain-drenched, she stands up to him, asserting her being and challenging his authority over her. At times I see myself as one and at times the other. Where the truth lies, I do not know.

    "Power is my pulse.
Gazing down, I deny those who challenge me.
Glaring up, I challenge those who defy me.
    Outside, I move in.
    Inside, I want out."
