Barry Haynes

In 1987, Barry Haynes was creating software for Apple Computer when he was given a pre-release copy of an early version of Photoshop. Having been a US Navy Photographer prior to becoming a software engineer, this proved a pivotal moment, and set Barry back on the track of photography, one of the earliest photographers to step into the digital age. As an early pioneer, Barry created a series of workshops for Photoshop, which eventually turned into the well-respected "Photoshop Artistry" book series, the latest being "Photoshop Artistry: for Photographers using Photoshop CS2 and Beyond" from New Riders Publishing.

Currently, Barry teaches Photography workshops in his studio in Gibsons, B.C. (near Vancouver Canada). He has taught classes for Anderson Ranch in Colorado, International Center of Photography in New York City, Sante Fe Workshop in New Mexico, Palm Beach Photographic Center in Florida and many others. For the last two years, he has focused his attentions on his own "Spirit of Place" photography gallery on the main street by the water in Gibson.
