      From Scott Atkinson:

"These two cranes, which in themselves seem like works of art, are ablaze in golden light and fused together into a new work of art. It’s like a timeless still-life, a gold enamel design on a black lacquer vase. The classic poses and hyper-real details on faces and feathers further the effect."

    Artist Statement

"These majestic-looking East African Crowned Cranes captured my attention when I saw the beautiful back-lighting illuminating their golden crown of feathers – they were in constant movement and getting the shot was very challenging – a sudden noise stopped them for a second - allowing me to get them in focus with my Nikon. Various filters were used to enhance the texture and colors of the feathers and background rocks."
